Guiding and Encouraging Your Soulful Book Writing
30+ years in the publications field / a lifetime of seeking and encouraging the expression of what’s real
Because it’s not just how many pages you write. It’s how much of you gets to come onto the page.
* A Book Developer & Creative Midwife (my own terminology) is sort of like a Book Coach in terms of guiding you knowledgeably through the book-writing process — but it’s more soulful . . . more collaborative . . . more receptive to discovering, through our work together, how who you actually are wants to write. No templates, no “shoulds” — just listening to you really well, so you know directly from within what path to walk in writing your book, and have the confidence, trust, and support to take it.
Client Books
Among the best testimonials I can think of are the books by my clients that are now in print (as well as e-book and audiobook formats). Almost all of these clients came to me as a first-time author, with dreams and fears around writing a book similar to what your may have felt about the book in your heart.
But they persisted. And over time, meeting collaboratively with me in weekly, biweekly, or monthly sessions, each one gradually arrived at a place of resonance in harmony with what wanted to be written, in a way that most deeply fit who the author was. And the manuscript grew and grew, until it came time for the author to (triumphantly) pen: “The End.”
Once the Writing phase (a deeply internal process) was complete, these authors went on to the more outward-facing Production phase (getting the book ready for print, involving editing, proofreading, design, illustration, typesetting, etc.). And then the book was birthed into the world in print and other formats, available to readers worldwide (the Marketing and Promotion phase) to be taken in, healed through its written medicine, appreciated, used, enjoyed, and even loved.
Following are the books written by my clients. Even if your book is only a wish, a call in your heart, at this point, be encouraged for its similar success.
THE STAR-SEER’S PROPHECY TRILOGY: Book 1, Dark Innocence / Book 2, Fierce Blessings / Book 3, Fierce Blessings. By RAHIMA WARREN, MFT (ret.)
Rahima Warren never aspired to be a fiction writer. In fact, she began writing solely for self-expression and personal enrichment. She never imagined she would be the author of The Star-Seer’s Prophecy, a fantasy trilogy about a young man’s journey from evil and suffering to redemption and love. But the book called her to it, in part based on her work as a therapist healing trauma. And she followed the call. . . .
GIFTS OF THE MANDALA: A Guided Journey of Self-Discovery, By CLARE GOODWIN
Psychosynthesis Therapist Clare Goodwin’s wonderful book, Gifts of the Mandala: A Guided Journey of Self-Discovery, began as an attempt to put into words the kind of therapy she did intuitively with clients. A mandala is by nature a spatial, imagistic picture of wholeness, where there is no need for a logical sequence. Writing about mandalas, however, turned out to be more challenging. What could she say that augmented the images and opened up the process to readers new to this artistic and therapeutic modality, in a writing voice that was truly her own?
THE MOON, THE HARE, AND THE PEARL: An Intuitive Guide to the Therapist-Client Relationship (a companion for therapists and others who are drawn to their inner life. By JENAII GOLD, PhD, MFT
When Jenaii Gold, a Jungian therapist who had long had a therapeutic practice, started being wakened in the wee hours and hearing a voice exhorting her to “Write a book!” she took that inner guidance to heart. By the time she engaged me as her Book Developer, she already had written a draft — essays that were meaningful in their own right, but didn’t always hang together as a book. . . .
HEALING CIVILIZATION: Bringing Personal Transformation into the Societal Realm. By CLAUDIO NARANJO, MD. Foreword by Jean Houston, PhD
In this ground-breaking book, noted Chilean-born psychiatrist and consciousness pioneer Dr. Claudio Naranjo, who first created descriptions of the Enneagram character types, now applies over 30 years of transformational work with individuals and groups to the societal realm, to heal our collective illness. His diagnosis? “The great problem of civilization is none other than civilization itself,” he declares. . . .
